This Speedtimer chronograph is inspired by Seiko's first chronometer designed for timing winter sports.
As the official timekeeping device at a major sporting event held in Sapporo in 1972, the original stopwatch's characteristics were adapted to winter conditions.
These included a black dial for high readability during competitions held in the snow.
Red indices and chronograph subdial at 9 o'clock enhance visibility against the matte black dial, which reduces reflection from sunlight and snow.
For the same reason the stainless steel case is hard coated in black.
It is a limited edition of 600 units.
